Wow! Nobody could have expected that!
We are about to witness a major turnaround in Tampa Bay as Lightning head coach Jon Cooper is reportedly making a hugely unexpected decision.
As the team faces elimination tonight, it appears that forward Tanner Jeannot may possibly be a healthy scratch.
"Mikey Eyssimont left the ice early during the Lightning's highly optional morning practice session, which could be an indication that he will return to play in the fifth game.
There has been no confirmation on the changes, but Tanner Jeannot was the last forward to remain on the ice, which is a sign that he will be a healthy scratch," via Chris Johnston, Sportsnet.
Wow!
Considering the price paid by the Lightning to acquire Jeannot at the trade deadline, it's a downright catastrophic outcome that he's not even in the regular lineup for such an important playoff game.
Let's recall that the team's GM, Julien BriseBois, paid the following to add him to their roster :
- Cal Foote (a former first-round pick)
- 2025 1st round pick (top 10 protected)
- 2024 2nd round pick
- 2023 3rd, 4th, and 5th-round picks.
To make matters worse, Jeannot would be replaced by Eyssimont, a forward who was acquired for Vladislav Namestnikov, a player the Lightning wanted to get rid of.
Fans of the team are completely bewildered by this decision. The trade is already looking bad for Tampa Bay.
