If you are following the activities of the series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning, you are probably aware that forward Michael Bunting has been suspended for three games due to his dangerous hit on defenseman Erik Cernak in game #1.
While Cernak could technically return to play tomorrow in the fifth game of the series, all indications suggest that there could be a major surprise among the Leafs.
As reported by journalist Jonas Siegel, who covers the team's activities for The Athletic, all signs point to the possibility of Bunting being left out for this game."
Wow!
Considering that the 27-year-old forward has been an important piece of Toronto's offense since last year, playing mainly on the top two lines, it's a huge turnaround by head coach Sheldon Keefe.
The coach seems to prefer rookie Matthew Knies over Bunting, who offers excellent hockey to his team even if he doesn't necessarily contribute offensively.
Let's remember that Knies saved a goal in the last game, which could have changed everything for the Leafs
This will be a case to watch, as we should have confirmation tomorrow of Bunting's absence for game #5
