Martin St-Louis has every reason to be furious with his players
Martin St-Louis often talks about it: what matters is the process. Winning or losing is not the most important thing for him, as long as his players adhere to the plan and put in the required effort.
Character is crucial in such a strategy, and the Canadiens have demonstrated it more than once this season. The team leads the league in the number of victories after trailing by two goals or more.
In Thursday night's game against the Hurricanes, the players from the first line missed their chance to show character, and the coach must not be pleased.
When Juraj Slafkovsky was hit in the head by Stefan Noesen, only the smallest player on the team stepped up to defend him.
"There were four Habs players on the ice including Suzuki, Guhle & Harris & the only one who confronted Stefan Noesen after he hit Juraj Slafkovsky in the head was the shortest guy, Cole Caufield.
That was just a sad response by the team tonight."
- HabsOnReddit Indeed, it would have been nice to see all four players stand up for Slaf, and Martin St-Louis will certainly let his men know about it.
At least the good news is that Slaf doesn't seem to have a concussion. Let's wait and see if symptoms appear later, but for now, it's encouraging.
