In recent days, we have discussed the market availability of Quebec forward Maxime Comtois, who remains an unrestricted free agent and is in search of a new contract with an NHL team.
After expressing open interest in the Canadiens during a recent interview with 98.5 FM and mentioning that he had an eye on the possibility of joining the team, a new development suggests that his acquisition may not occur in Montreal.
Comtois does not hide that Montreal would be a preferred destination for him, but the Montreal team, he confirms, has not shown interest.
"The Canadiens are not among the teams that have contacted my agent," he admits. "As for me, I have no problem playing in such a demanding market where the pressure is high."

However, the 24-year-old player revealed that there was interest in his services and that he had several options on the table. However, due to the salary cap, he is aware that he will have to make concessions on his monetary expectations, as teams have already done a lot to improve their respective lineups.
"I have a few options, even though I'm aware that because of the salary cap, there aren't many spots available.
I want to play for a winning team. I'm tired of losing. I miss winning a lot. It's hard on morale to go to the arena knowing things aren't going well."

He will certainly have to bet on himself and sign a modest contract to properly showcase his skills with a competitive NHL team.
In 210 career games in the big show since his arrival in 2018-2019, the former Victoriaville Tigres player has amassed 38 goals and 86 points.
