Monstrous statement about Samuel Montembeault, who could be the goaltender sacrificed by Kent Hughes
This summer, when Kent Hughes acquired Casey DeSmith, Samuel Montembeault confirmed that the GM had spoken to his agent to assure him that he didn't need to worry about his position. A few weeks later, Jake Allen received the same treatment.
With these statements, we were sure that Cayden Primeau would be leaving, but he's still there. Kent Hughes knows very well that this can't last, and he admitted as much before the start of the season.
According to Darren Dreger, a dramatic twist is still possible, with Montembeault having the highest value among the three.
"There is a decision to be made. The Canadiens don't want to say when it will happen, but it includes the possibility of trading one of the three goalies."
In his report, Dreger clearly states that there are no untouchables among the three and that it could well be Monty who makes way.
This is the first time someone has brought up this idea, and we're talking about one of the most reputable insiders in the industry.
Personally, I still believe that Cayden Primeau will be the one to leave, and Kent Hughes is waiting for the right offer. After all, we're just one injury away from a goalie on the right team for Montreal to get a good return.
