It's pretty quiet in the Canadiens' circle regarding transactions. Aside from Gustav Lindstrom being claimed off waivers by the Ducks, there are plenty of rumors, but nothing concrete happening.

Of course, the focus is on goaltenders. Kent Hughes may seem inactive, but make no mistake, he's very active on the phone, receiving offers that don't meet his preferences.

"Kent Hughes has reportedly turned down at least one offer from another GM for goaltender Jake Allen. The Habs GM has shown a good understanding of the trade market. I wonder what kind of return he's seeking."

We know that Hughes rejected a 6th-round pick from the Maple Leafs for Jake Allen and turned down other offers involving late-round picks.

The situation is far from ideal, and when Hughes talks about it, you can see it's a bit exhausting for him too. He's the first to say that Samuel Montembeault deserves to play more often, but one can understand why he's being patient.

The goaltenders are a key factor in the team's success this season. Managing the goaltending trio is not easy, but it's far from being a problem in terms of the team's statistics.

Hughes is patient, waiting for the right offer. Will it come before the trade deadline? We hope so, but Hughes hasn't ruled out the possibility that the Habs will finish the season with three goaltenders on the roster.
