Last July 1st, Jonathan Drouin signed a one-season agreement for $825,000 with the Colorado Avalanche.

After a tumultuous six-year stint with the Montreal Canadiens organization, the 27-year-old Quebecer will try to revive his career alongside his good friend Nathan MacKinnon, with whom he shined during their time with the Halifax Mooseheads.

While he was in Quebec for his annual golf tournament benefiting the CHUM foundation, we learned some very interesting news about the former number 27 of the Habs.

The excellent journalist Anthony Martineau from TVA Sports spoke with Drouin, and he reported that Drouin had declined offers that were much more lucrative in terms of salary and contract length, to join the Avalanche.

"Met this morning at his golf tournament, Jonathan Drouin stated that he declined more advantageous offers in terms of duration/salary because he really wanted to play in Colorado." - Anthony Martineau

Drouin's next destination seemed foreordained, as everyone expected him to land in Colorado. We now have confirmation from the man himself that there was only one team at the top of his list, even if they were offering a less favorable deal.

We are very excited about the idea of seeing him thrive with his new team after experiencing a roller coaster journey in Montreal. Jonathan deserves to reconnect with the joy of playing hockey and enjoy earning his living from the sport he loves.

It will be very interesting to follow his upcoming season in Colorado.
