Patrick Roy's return as head coach in the NHL? An important statement has just surfaced
After experiencing a historic season with the Quebec Remparts last season, Patrick Roy's name has been at the center of many rumors this summer regarding a potential return to the NHL. However, although he had discussions with some NHL teams, no concrete offer has been made to him.
Nevertheless, even though the former Canadiens legend announced his retirement a few weeks ago, many speculations link him to the Ottawa Senators, as he is well acquainted with the team's new owner, Michael Andlauer. Moreover, some experts believe that if the team led by D.J. Smith has a poor start to the season, Patrick Roy could be mandated to take over and possibly lead the Sens to the playoffs.
In fact, during his appearance on BPM Sports, Bob Hartley made a major statement, advising fans not to dismiss too quickly the possibility of seeing him back in the NHL soon. According to him, it wouldn't be surprising if Patrick Roy receives a call in the very near future.
"I had been out of the NHL for five years when I came back from Switzerland. I went to Calgary and a year later, I was the head coach of the year. Coaching is like riding a bike, you never forget how. As long as you have passion and when we mention the name of Patrick Roy, it is synonymous with passion. I am convinced that if an offer presented itself to him in the NHL, he would be ready. That's Patrick Roy, he gives his all, whether in front of the net or behind the bench. In 6-7 years, I'm not convinced the phone will ring, but this year, within a year or two, why not? It only takes one person to believe in you." - Bob Hartley
Wow! A statement that speaks volumes about the passion the former Canadiens' goalie has!
Of course, as long as no position is available, it will be hard to imagine "Casseau" behind an NHL bench. However, every year, coaches are fired after a difficult start to the season; could a team finding itself in such a situation be interested in his services?
One thing is for sure, this is a file to follow closely!
