Prodigy Matvei Michkov linked to the Montreal Canadiens: major plot twist
This morning, we talked about the following video in which the excellent Tony Marinaro talks about the Montreal Canadiens and the young Matvei Michkov.
In the video, Tony Marinaro mentions that Nick Bobrov is a big fan of Matvei Michkov, to the point of privately nickname him "the European Connor Bedard".
This has sparked hopes of the possibility of seeing the Montreal Canadiens draft Michkov. However, Tony Marinaro has since retracted his statements and we need to revise our expectations regarding Michkov's selection by the Canadiens. Tony should be commended for his candor and honesty about this situation.
On that note, Aaron Portzline set the record straight...

According to what Portzline actually said, it appears that the Columbus Blue Jackets intend to select Will Smith before Matvei Michkov, if they ever speak at the fourth pick or later during the draft. It is suggested that the Jackets' priority list is as follows (for now):
1- Connor Bedard
2- Adam Fantilli
3- Leo Carlsson
4- Will Smith.
Indeed, if the Columbus Blue Jackets are likely to draft ahead of the Montreal Canadiens, it could increase the chances of Matvei Michkov being available when the Habs make their pick.
If Matvei Michkov was available and Connor Bedard was not, it could be an interesting option for the Montreal Canadiens. Michkov is an extremely talented player with a very high potential, and he could be a valuable asset for the team.
As for Tony Marinaro, it highlights the importance of being vigilant about the reliability of our sources and not rushing to make hasty conclusions.
