The Seattle Kraken decided to send Shane Wright to the AHL at the beginning of the season, despite his standout performance of four goals and two assists in eight games. His performance earned him a call-up to the NHL, but unfortunately, it only lasted a few weeks.
The forward returned to the OHL with the Windsor Spitfires afterward. He performed very well with the Ontario-based team, collecting 37 points in 20 games. However, during the playoffs, he was unable to make a significant impact, with only three points in four games.
Shane Wright then headed to Coachella Valley to try to help the Kraken's affiliate team, the Firebirds, win a championship. However, the forward is simply invisible on the ice. In 12 games, Wright has only managed a meager four points and has been a healthy scratch twice.
He returned to the lineup in the last game, and despite a 6-4 victory, the forward finished the game with a concerning -2 plus/minus rating.
It's alarming to see that he is unable to produce offensively when his team needs him in crucial games. Let's just say that, for now, the Canadiens made the right choice not selecting him as the first overall pick in the draft.
