The case of Pierre-Luc Dubois in Montreal just took a new turn, as we learn from journalist Marc De Foy that the Winnipeg Jets have responded to the Canadiens' trade offer.

"A source closely associated with the case tells me that the CH will have to be more serious in their offers if they want to get their hands on Dubois. This information doesn't surprise me at all.

As I wrote earlier this week, the trade currency and Dubois's salary demands are problematic for the Tricolore.

So, according to his source, Kent Hughes does not seem to want to empty his team to welcome the Quebec forward. This isn't a bad thing, given that rumors suggested the Jets would be looking to get Nick Suzuki, Kirby Dach, or Kaiden Guhle in a package for their 24-year-old player.

The Habs GM has a very precise idea of the price he wishes to pay to acquire Dubois, and unless there is another major turnaround, he seems ready to bet on the little time left in Winnipeg as a negotiation lever, at the risk of potentially losing the trade.

Less than a week before the draft, this case seems far from being close to conclusion.
