The Canadiens have released an official statement in connection with the draft
Even though the Stanley Cup final hasn't started yet, NHL teams are quietly getting ready for one of the most important moments of the year, the draft.
The annual session will be held in Nashville in a little less than a month, and in preparation for their final lists for this draft, the teams will have the chance to talk with the top prospects very soon.
In fact, as the Montreal Canadiens informed us through an official statement, the action leading up to the draft will start this Sunday.
"MONTREAL - The year's cohort of hopefuls is facing the final stage of their journey to the 2023 NHL Draft.
The League's Evaluation Session, which will bring together 106 aspirants, will take place from June 4 to June 10 at KeyBank Center and HarborCenter in Buffalo.
65 forwards, 34 defensemen, and seven goaltenders are expected to participate in the annual event, which includes physical tests, medical evaluations, and individual interviews.
Top prospects such as Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson, and William Smith are among the invitees." - Montreal Canadiens It's worth noting that the interview process is a strong component for the teams, to psychologically and personally test the prospects, with the goal of getting to know them better and detecting strengths, as well as red flags.
Last year, young players like Juraj Slafkovsky, Owen Beck, and Vinzenz Rohrer, three picks of the Canadiens, made a great impression during the interviews.
The next few days could shed light on the potential selection for the Canadiens with the 5th pick of the 2023 cohort.
