We're reporting the information for the pure pleasure of debating the exchange proposals that are causing a stir, to entertain us.
Here's the one proposed by the popular Twitter account Hockey Night in Montreal, notably involving Josh Anderson and the Washington Capitals.
To Montreal
- Anthony Mantha
- 8th overall pick in the 2023 draft
To Washington
- 1st round of the Panthers 2023
- Josh Anderson
- Joel Edmundson (retained at 50%)
An opportunity presents itself for the Canadiens, knowing that the Capitals are very seriously considering buying out the last year of forward Anthony Mantha's contract, who are eager to get rid of the remaining $5.7M of the Quebecer on their payroll, due to his performance.
As Washington wishes to return to the playoffs as quickly as possible, a transaction based on Josh Anderson could be very interesting for them.
Knowing that the Capitals want to get rid of Mantha's contract and they have a crying need for depth in defense, while they only have five backs signed for next year, Joel Edmundson could become a quality asset for their defensive brigade, especially with a 50% salary retention.
The first-round choice of the Panthers is a nice incentive to facilitate the conclusion of an agreement between the two formations. Essentially, the Caps could still draft in the first round, but they would move back 23 or 24 ranks, but they would acquire two important players for their lineup next year.
As for the Canadiens, having two top 10 picks, Kent Hughes and his team could get their hands on very high-quality prospects for the future of the organization.
This could allow taking a risk with a Matvei Michkov at the 5th rank, in addition to selecting a safer prospect with the 8th choice, like a Dalibor Dvorsky, a Ryan Leonard, a Zach Benson, a Brayden Yager, etc.
If you were the GM of the Tricolore, would you make this trade?
