He was briefly detained before being released. Today, the video of his arrest is sparking discussions, as he is the assistant coach for the New Jersey Devils.
In the video, Andrew Brunette can first be seen driving a small golf cart in a residential area late at night. He then blew through a stop sign, attracting the attention of the police who intervened.
Brunette appeared intoxicated and claimed that his wife was driving, even though it was clearly false as he was sitting in the driver's seat. He did not have his driver's license with him and gave his wife's license to the officers instead. The officers asked Brunette to perform tests to assess whether he was fit to drive, but he refused and returned to his golf cart, saying he would call his lawyer.
The officers proceeded to arrest Andrew Brunette by asking him to put his hands on his head. In the video, he can be heard telling the officers that they would regret it and also mentioned that he was a head coach in the National Hockey League, but it did not impress the officers.
