During his column on BPM Sports' airwaves, Matthias Brunet revealed a major piece of information regarding the second overall pick and it's very encouraging for fans of CH who dream of seeing Adam Fantilli land in Montreal.
The journalist from La Presse spoke with a very well-informed source in the NHL in order to know the price to pay for a team that wants to move up a few ranks in the draft.
Surprisingly, the price to pay would be much lower than one could imagine.
According to a very precise chart, here is what it would cost the General Manager of the Canadiens to get the 4th or 2nd overall pick:
"For the pick of the San Jose Sharks (4th):
- 5th overall pick plus a second-round pick in 2023
For the pick of the Anaheim Ducks (2nd):
- 5th overall pick plus the 31st pick in the 2023 draft"
Of course, this price is calculated according to a chart held by the general managers which allows knowing the success rate of a player depending on the rank at which he is selected. However, it would not be surprising if the Anaheim Ducks had higher demands to agree to trade the 2nd overall pick.
