Three former members of the Montreal Canadiens, namely Nathan Beaulieu, Peter Holland, and Nate Schnarr, have received a professional tryout contract to attempt to break into the lineup of their respective teams for the upcoming season.
Nathan Beaulieu, selected 17th overall in the 2011 draft, spent five seasons with the Habs before playing for the Buffalo Sabres, Winnipeg Jets, and Anaheim Ducks. The former #28 of the Canadiens had a rather challenging season last year, registering a disappointing four assists in 52 games and a -23 differential. Beaulieu will try to impress the Carolina Hurricanes' management to earn a contract.
On his part, Peter Holland, who played with the Laval Rocket during the 2017-2018 season, signed a professional tryout contract with the Colorado Avalanche. The 15th overall pick in the 2009 draft has recorded 36 goals and 49 assists (85 points) in 285 games in the NHL. After playing three seasons in Europe, the 32-year-old center took a break last year in hopes of training for a comeback in the NHL this season.
Lastly, the 24-year-old forward, Nate Schnarr, played two seasons with the Laval Rocket (2021-2022 and 2022-2023), recording 17 points in 47 games. He finished the last season with the Los Angeles Kings organization after being traded for Quebecer defenseman Frédéric Allard. The Ontario center will try to earn a contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets as he participates in the team's training camp in September.
We wish them the best of luck!
