Trouble with the Canadiens: Huge statement from Jeff Gorton, and Martin St-Louis denies it all
From an external perspective, despite the team's current struggles, one might not believe that the atmosphere within the Canadiens is negative.
Every time we see the players together, there seems to be a good camaraderie, but it appears that there are tensions. This is at least what Jeff Gorton announced during a recent appearance on TSN 690.
"In this interview with TSN 690 yesterday, Jeff Gorton mentioned feeling 'a lot of tension' during that day's practice, which 'was a good thing after a loss like Saturday's,' according to him."
Such a statement coming from a high-ranking executive like Gorton is significant. When questioned on the matter, Martin St-Louis completely disagrees, and he will have a discussion with the Vice President of Hockey Operations.
"I wouldn't say there's tension within the team. Disappointment, maybe. But tension, no. I would have to ask Jeff Gorton what he meant by that." - MSL
In any case, the coach apparently does not agree. However, it might be beneficial to have a bit of disagreement after defeats like those against the Senators and the Bruins.
