Two key players traded out of Montreal in the coming months?
A major piece of information has surfaced, thanks to the excellent journalist Arpon Basu, who has been covering the activities of the Montreal Canadiens for The Athletic for several years. He has strong connections with the team and has just revealed something interesting.
In a recent article where he answered fans' questions, Basu mentioned that Christian Dvorak and Josh Anderson will likely be traded in a few months.
"It's possible, and even quite likely, that Christian Dvorak and Josh Anderson will have been traded by then.
However, I imagine that if they are indeed traded, there will likely be NHL-caliber players acquired in the exchange, as the Canadiens consider these two players to hold significant value, and trading them for just picks and prospects might not suffice.
Nevertheless, these trades, if they materialize, will allow the Habs to free up even more salary cap space."

In fact, the part where Basu mentions they will "have been traded by then" refers to the upcoming offseason for the Canadiens.
The journalist suggests that this year will be another transitional season before the Canadiens' GM attempts a major move in the summer of 2024, coinciding with the expiration of some undesirable contracts.
Basu claims that the Canadiens' front office might be tempted to shed more salary with the hefty contracts of some players on the team. Dvorak and Anderson are, of course, prime targets to free up cap space.
With Anderson still having four seasons at $5.5 million and Dvorak having two seasons at $4.45 million left on their contracts, it represents a significant investment for players who do not hold regular spots in the team's top 6.
These would be two names to keep an eye on throughout the season, especially if the team once again finds itself in the lower ranks of the league during the early months of the regular schedule.
