First, let's recall that in 2022, this 15th pick in the Leafs' draft was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Although he put his career on hold to get the best possible care, a columnist from TheScore, Kyle Cushman, recently stated that the 21-year-old Russian forward will likely never play hockey again, at least professionally.
As Cushman points out, last May, Amirov extended his loan with his KHL club, UFA Salavat Yulayev, to have access to the team's doctors. However, the prognosis for him lacing up for an NHL game is reportedly non-existent.
This is a sad outcome for this highly talented prospect of the Toronto organization.
At 19 in the KHL, the season before his tumor was discovered, he had an impressive record of nine goals and 13 points in 39 games, with very limited playing time. He had great potential and a promising future in the National League.
Above all, we wish him a full recovery, hoping for a significant turnaround and a return to professional hockey soon!
