The Canadiens are well positioned approaching the trade deadline. Whether the team collapses and becomes a seller or, on the contrary, surprises and contends for the playoffs as a buyer, there are interesting players who can bring in significant returns and cap space to acquire one or more players.

The reality for the Canadiens is that they are in a rebuilding phase, and it would be very surprising if they make the playoffs. If the Canadiens end up being sellers on March 8th, there is already a highly interested buyer for Sean Monahan.

"Among potential acquisitions, two centers that could bring distinct advantages to the Avalanche: Sean Monahan from the Montreal Canadiens and Morgan Frost from the Philadelphia Flyers. Both players offer unique characteristics that could fit well into the Avalanche's style of play.

Monahan, with his seasoned experience and track record, could provide the Avalanche with a reliable and stable presence at the center position."

Many observers believe that Kent Hughes should extend Monahan's contract, and I share that opinion. However, other teams also see what we see in number 91 and will be willing to pay the price to acquire him.

It will be a tough dilemma for Kent Hughes, hoping that he makes the right decision.
