While Samuel Montembeault has proven that he deserves a more prominent role next season, he has yet to demonstrate that he is undeniably a number one goalie in the NHL. As for Jacob Fowler, the 18-year-old American seems to have a very promising future, but it is still far too early to be able to project his impact in the NHL.
It would therefore not be surprising if the Canadiens' general manager, Kent Hughes, tried to acquire a goalie with a very interesting potential in the coming months. In fact, a young 22-year-old goalie had an absolutely exceptional season with the Calgary Wranglers in the AHL this year and he could represent a top choice for the Canadiens.
In this regard, the Twitter account Hockey Night In Montreal often suggests various trade proposals concerning the CH to animate the debates among the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge fans. In his most recent proposal, he raised the possibility that the Tricolore tries to get Dustin Wolf, but the price to pay for his acquisition would be rather high.
Here is his trade proposal:
This is certainly a high price, but the goalie has had absolutely incredible stats since joining the professional ranks. He compiled a record of 82 wins, 24 losses, and 6 overtime losses in the past two seasons, all while maintaining a goals-against average of 2.27 and an impressive save percentage of 0.926.
Dustin Wolf is ready to make the jump to the NHL as early as next year and could undoubtedly represent a coup for the Montreal team, which is desperately looking for a successor to Carey Price. He notably played his first game in the NHL last season, stopping 23 of the 24 shots directed at him to allow the Flames to win 3-1 against the San Jose Sharks.
However, considering that this is an unfounded suggestion, the chances of this happening are quite slim. However, we would still like to get your opinion on this. Do you believe that Kent Hughes should make this trade?
