Very interesting statement concerning the future of the Canadiens' goalies

While several experts have confirmed that the young goalie Carter Hart is available on the trade market, many rumors sending him to Montreal have surfaced in the past few hours.

Although he has had some difficulties since his arrival in the NHL, there is no doubt that Hart has a very interesting potential and could possibly become a true number one goalie, in the Bettman circuit.

However, the question deserves to be asked: has the Canadiens already found their goalie of the future? This is what Matthias Brunet seems to believe, who was on the airwaves of BPM Sports earlier today. According to him, Samuel Montembeault is the future goalie of the organization and Kent Hughes should not try to acquire the Flyers' goalie.

"We always like goalies who are elsewhere. Hart is 24 years old and has not had a great start to his career and now you have Samuel Montembeault who has had a good season, given the circumstances. There was a big World Championship, I think we underestimate Montembeault a lot, he's the number one goalie."

One cannot contradict him on this point, Monty had an excellent season with the Canadiens and he was simply breathtaking with the Canadian team. However, it is difficult to know if the Quebecer will indeed become a leading goalie on whom the Tricolore can rely to continue its reconstruction.

Aside from Samuel Montembeault, the options are very thin as Cayden Primeau has still not managed to establish himself in the NHL and Jakub Dobes is still too young to be truly judged for his potential.

One thing is for sure, these are questions that the general manager will have to consider if he wishes to be able to find an impact goalie for his team.
