WOW: Rasmus Dahlin breaks the bank in Buffalo and becomes the second highest paid defenseman in the NHL

In the last few minutes, the Buffalo Sabres have awarded a contract extension to their star defenseman Rasmus Dahlin. Indeed, the first overall pick in the 2018 draft has signed a deal for eight seasons worth $88 million.

Wow! Ramus Dahlin thus becomes the second highest-paid defenseman in the NHL, just behind Erik Karlsson who pockets a salary of $11.5 million!

A well-deserved contract extension for one of the best defensemen in the NHL. At 23 years old, the Swede finished the last season ranked 5th in scoring among defensemen with an impressive 15 goals and 58 assists (73 points) in 78 games.

Since his arrival with the Buffalo Sabres in 2018-2019, the defenseman, standing at 6'3" and weighing over 200 pounds, quickly became a key element to the team's success, amassing 233 points in 355 NHL games.
