With a contract of 4 million for the season, the chances of Corey Perry being claimed off waivers are very slim, if not nil. Even without all this controversy surrounding him, he probably wouldn't be claimed.

However, he will be a free agent at 2:00 today, and teams have until December 1st to sign him, which is plausible but again, unlikely.

"It would highly surprise me if it happens! (Perry signing with another team) I don't need to tell you that the chances of his career being over are very high.

It doesn't make sense to end his career like this!"

- Renaud Lavoie

Renaud takes his reflection even further, suggesting that if Perry wants to return to the NHL, it will have to go through Gary Bettman. What he did must be serious enough for the League not to want to be associated with him.

"It's tough to see a guy who was headed straight to the Hall of Fame get kicked out like this from a team. We hired him precisely to set an example. It's not good news. It's a black eye for him and for the NHL in a way. To see that the Blackhawks are forced to show him the door after an internal investigation because his conduct is negative, it's certain that the accusations are serious."

So, we can conclude that Perry's career is over, and it ends on a very sour note. Unless there's a surprise, we won't see him with an NHL team again.

"It doesn't make sense to end his career like this. Honestly, where did the judgment go? That's what I find unfortunate. We celebrated this player for so many years, and he's ruining his career like this. It's truly a very sad story." - Renaud Lavoie, via TVA Sports website
