Acquisition of a talented forward by the Montreal Canadiens: Kent Hughes could very well turn to Ivan Demidov
Last year, Kent Hughes and the Canadiens turned away from Matvei Michkov and opted for David Reinbacher instead. This year, if they have the chance to draft his compatriot Ivan Demidov, they won't let the opportunity pass by.
At least that's what Eric Engels mentions. According to the Sportsnet journalist, there's no doubt about the Habs' interest in the young Russian.
"Better to finish where we started, with questions about drafting a forward.
I have no doubt that the Canadiens will consider Demidov, as well as other intriguing forwards who could be available near the top of the list."
In order, Macklin Celebrini will go first, that's quite evident. Then, many scouts see Demidov as the second choice. The big difference with Matvei Michkov is that he doesn't play in the KHL, so he could come to North America immediately. That's a huge detail.
Indeed, Ivan plays in the MHL, which isn't a bad league. He's dominating with two points per game, totaling 60 points in 30 games this season.
