However, the general manager of the organization hasn't been idle at the beginning of September, as he offered eight professional tryouts to players earlier this week.
As we reported in recent hours, the Montreal Canadiens announced the signing of eight professional tryouts.
The full list of the 23 players who will participate in the rookie camp has been released by the organization, and we were pleasantly surprised to learn that names like Lane Hutson, David Reinbacher, Logan Mailloux, Owen Beck, and Florian Xhekaj will face the Toronto Maple Leafs' prospects in the coming days.
One of the goalies targeted by the Canadiens for this 2024 rookie camp was the excellent Quentin Miller.
Unfortunately, he has just sustained an injury.
The goaltender will therefore have to miss the rookie camp and will need to be replaced. Will this be an opportunity for Kent Hughes to offer a professional tryout to another goalie? To be continued...
At 19 years old, Quentin Miller is a goaltender standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was selected 128th overall (4th round) in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He grew up in the Montreal minor hockey system before heading to the QMJHL.
His participation in the rookie camp is considered "unlikely," at least according to the message conveyed by the club's communications.
Kent Hughes will most likely have no choice but to go back to the drawing board and invite a new goaltender.
This is a situation to follow in the coming hours.
