As we know, Canadiens fans are passionate, and it's quite common to hear them booing an opposing star player at the Bell Centre.

Indeed, it's a way to disrupt them, but it clearly shows that we acknowledge how good and dangerous they are.

On Saturday night, Matthews was booed, just like many players before him, and it will be the case for many others in the future.

We'll remember that even Connor Bedard, in his first visit to Montreal, was also booed. He took it as a sign of respect, and he was right.

For Auston Matthews, it's very similar. He's happy to be booed in Montreal, and he believes it's a sign of respect, not the opposite.

"Auston Matthews on being booed in Montreal tonight:

"Honestly, I kind of find it like a tone of respect, I guess, especially in a building like this and a big time hockey city and fan base. So, I don't mind (smile). I don't mind at all."

Several fans and media outlets in Toronto are criticizing Canadiens fans for what they claim to be a lack of class and respect.

The main person involved understands what it's all about and takes it in good stride. Despite being rivals, even hating the Leafs in Montreal, we still recognize a star and appreciate his great talent.
