Brandon Gignac: An interesting surprise awaited him at the press conference
What a story Brandon Gignac has! A bit like Alex Belzile last year, he scored his first NHL goal late, at the age of 26.
With 42 points in 43 games with the Rocket, there had been several weeks of calls from fans for Kent Hughes to sign him to an NHL contract. It finally happened, and Gignac has played four games since.
It was Tuesday night that he scored his first goal, and he appeared before the media with a big smile after the game. While answering journalists' questions, a surprise guest joined to congratulate him.
It was Michel Lacroix, the announcer at the Bell Centre.
"Anyway, it was fun to announce," said Michel Lacroix.
Another beautiful moment for Gignac, and it shows how proud we are to see a Hometown player have success in Montreal.
