The Canadiens have a very promising pool of defensive prospects, and it will be challenging for Kent Hughes to decide between the young players Lane Hutson, David Reinbacher, and Logan Mailloux.
Indeed, the general manager won't be able to keep them all in Montreal at the same time and will have to make some tough decisions. It seems clear that Lane Hutson has the edge and will start the season with the Canadiens, but what about the other two?

This means we shouldn't be surprised if Lane Hutson is sent to Laval to make room for one of the two young players, or if we see them called up in case of an injury.
No one wishes for injuries, but sometimes one player's misfortune can benefit another. Personally, I would be happy to see all three young players gain experience this year.
For my part, unless Lane Hutson's performance really falters, I'd love to see him play the entire season in Montreal. But I said the same about Arber Xhekaj, and look how much his game improved after his time with the Rocket.
One thing seems certain: the organization wants to see all three young players in the NHL this season, gaining valuable experience in important games.
