The Canadiens are clearly lacking offensive punch, and Kent Hughes is still working to improve this aspect of his team for the upcoming season.

However, he does not want to jeopardize the club's future, so he refrained from signing a high-profile free agent this summer, but that could change next summer.

Indeed, there will be many forwards available on the free-agent market, which will increase supply and decrease prices compared to this summer.

TVA Sports has published a list of players who could interest Kent Hughes on July 1, 2025, and four of them are particularly intriguing: Brock Boeser, Taylor Hall, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Claude Giroux.

"The Canadiens' general manager, Kent Hughes, was unable to attract high-profile free agents to Montreal this summer, but the scenario is expected to be quite different in 2025, which should please a segment of increasingly impatient fans."

Here is the complete list, which could expand to include stars such as Leon Draisaitl, Sidney Crosby, Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and Mikko Rantanen:

Brock Nelson At 32 years old, the 6-foot-4 center scored 69 points in 82 games last season.

Brock Boeser At 27 years old, the 6-foot-1 winger scored 73 points in 81 games last season.

Nikolaj Ehlers At 28 years old, the 6-foot winger scored 61 points in 82 games last season.

Frank Vatrano At 30 years old, the 5-foot-11 winger scored 60 points in 82 games last season (37 goals).

Taylor Hall At 32 years old, the 6-foot-1 winger scored 40 points in his last 71 games.

Claude Giroux At 36 years old, the 5-foot-11 winger scored 64 points in 82 games last season.

Gustav Nyquist At 34 years old, the 5-foot-11 winger scored 75 points in 81 games last season.

With the end of contracts for Christian Dvorak, Joel Armia, and David Savard, among others, the Canadiens will have significant salary cap flexibility. Signing a free agent could be very feasible, especially if conditions do not force teams to offer 4 or 5-year deals as they did this year.

Adding to this, the arrival of Ivan Demidov in the organization and potentially another high draft pick, the 2025-26 season looks very promising for the Canadiens.
