As you have surely seen, Arber Xhekaj signed a two-season contract earlier today with the Canadiens.

It's an excellent deal for Kent Hughes, worth $1.3 million per year. Arber is now eligible for waivers.

In a press conference a few hours ago, the towering defenseman made a significant statement, especially considering the team is still in rebuilding mode.

"Our goal is to make the playoffs next season. We can't afford to lose as many games in overtime. We need to find a solution."

The players' objective is clear, and we may hear similar sentiments from his teammates soon.

This also implies that Kent Hughes will likely try to assist them by making a trade to bring in a forward.

Arber, who underwent surgery at the end of the season, confirmed that everything is fine and there's no cause for concern.

"The fact that I had surgery on both shoulders doesn't worry me. It won't change anything in my game."
