Imminent recall for Logan Mailloux with the Montreal Canadiens?
While he was one of the last players to be cut from the Canadiens training camp, Logan Mailloux was still entitled to a recall fairly early in the season. The Habs' first pick in the 2021 draft did very well with the big club.
However, when Kaiden Guhle and Justin Barron returned to the game last week, the big right-handed defenseman was once again assigned to the Laval Rocket.
Since then, Mailloux has had a very good time with the Canadiens' farm club, as reported by former CH scout Grant McCagg via his X account.
In fact, he is literally burning up the AHL with a 9-point haul in just four games this season and he is ranked 15th in the league's top scorers.
Last weekend, he helped his team win both games against the Providence Bruins and he even had a four-point game Saturday with a goal and three assists in the Rocket's 6-3 win over the Boston Bruins' farm team.
With all the problems the Canadiens have been experiencing for the past week, would recalling Logan Mailloux be a good idea?
Even if he wouldn't necessarily solve the team's defensive shortcomings, he could still provide a helping hand on the power play.
Since Mailloux was sent back to Laval, the Canadiens have lost their last three games and the power play has only scored one goal in 12 attempts. Conversely, he was named AHL player of the week.
