However, a few players remain uncertain about their short-term future, such as Oliver Kapanen and Owen Beck, for example.
Focusing on the defensemen, it is becoming increasingly clear that Logan Mailloux will once again start in Laval, while Lane Hutson should play with the Canadiens without issue.
In the case of Logan Mailloux, it's a matter of consistency. He is good and will undoubtedly be for a long time, but he needs to be more consistent in his game.
The biggest disappointment, however, belongs to Arber Xhekaj. He has had the worst camp of the club's defensemen so far. According to Marc Antoine Godin, he will be the 7th defenseman, competing with Logan Mailloux.
Obviously, Justin Barron and Arber Xhekaj will remain in Montreal because they are waiver-eligible, while Mailloux is not. However, Jayden Struble should have the edge over Arber Xhekaj and play on the third pair.
Personally, I believe the battle for the 5th and 6th spots will be contested among four players all year. Logan Mailloux should be recalled a few times along the way.
