Important statement on the future trade of Arber Xhekaj from the Montreal Canadiens
Arber Xhekaj is a fan favorite in Montreal, but a trade involving him is starting to make a lot of noise since he was left in the stands.
There were rumors last year as well, when he was struggling and was demoted to the Laval Rocket. However, he came back strong and played the best hockey of his career, paired with David Savard.
This year, he unfortunately returned to his bad habits, and it's costing the Canadiens dearly. Martin St-Louis is forced to leave him out and Xhekaj has become the organization's 7th defenseman. He was overtaken by Justin Barron and Jayden Struble.
So the rumors are starting up again regarding a trade and according to tipster Darren Dreger, teams would be very interested, although he believes that the Sheriff is still part of the Canadiens' plans.
"If Kent Hughes ever decided to put Arber Xhekaj on the trade list (on the trade market), there would be multiple teams interested in Arber Xhekaj, there would be more than 10 teams interested at a minimum."
Dreger also added: "His style of play, when he keeps it under control, can be very influential and very impactful on a game, I think the Canadiens believe that's part of their future as well."

It's pretty clear that the rumors are currently false. Yes, Arber Xhekaj's value is high and Kent Hughes would likely receive a nice return, but the Canadiens haven't thrown in the towel on him yet.
When his game comes back, he'll be untouchable again in my opinion. That's what I hope, because it's true that Arber Xhekaj is a true warrior and he can change the course of a game all by himself.
