The Canadiens had a real blow Tuesday night against the Kraken in Montreal, and Martin St. Louis was forced to make some adjustments to his lineup.

Indeed, there are a number of changes up front, with Emil Heineman and Oliver Kapanen getting promotions, much to the detriment of Alex Newhook and Joel Armia.

However, it is on defense that the focus is on, as Arber Xhekaj was on the 4th pairing with Logan Mailloux.

Obviously, Mailloux was sent back to Laval during the day on Wednesday, which confirms that Xhekaj will be left out on Thursday, in Washington.

Kaiden Guhle and Justin Barron made the trip with the team and barring a surprise, they will be back in action.

Xhekaj is having a very difficult start to the season and Tuesday night's game, the Canadiens' worst of the season, was also his worst.

We can understand Martin St. Louis making changes, especially with the returns and the fact that Xhekaj was left out before the injuries.

I don't know what's going on with Arber, but I really hope he gets back into it. He is capable of being in the top 4 when he plays good hockey, but he is also capable of the worst.

I really believe he will recover and come back strong.
