Since the departure of PK Subban, Montreal hasn't had a truly electrifying player, except perhaps Cole Caufield. However, that could change with the potential arrival of Trevor Zegras.
Indeed, the forward is on the market, and according to Frank Seravalli, both his camp and the Ducks are seeking a trade. This is quite a significant update.
Besides Seravalli, Pierre LeBrun has confirmed that Kent Hughes is currently in talks with Pat Verbeek regarding Zegras, and now David Pagnotta has also chimed in.
When reputable insiders like Seravalli, Pagnotta, and LeBrun speak, it's usually credible. When all three are reporting the same thing, there's no doubt about it.
Kent Hughes is indeed trying to acquire Cole Caufield's best friend.
"While exploring his options, the Anaheim Ducks' general manager has acknowledged that he is still responding to inquiries about a trade involving goaltender John Gibson and young star Trevor Zegras.

Of course, such a trade can take time to materialize. It won't be a one-for-one deal; prospects will certainly be involved, and it's challenging to evaluate them during the offseason.
Moreover, if we consider John Gibson, who requested a trade two years ago and is still with the Ducks, it's clear that Verbeek is patient and will wait for the best possible offer before making a move.
According to Pierre LeBrun on Tuesday night, Kent Hughes is very interested in Zegras but won't sacrifice the team's future for him. This means that if a trade does happen between the two clubs, no key player essential to the Canadiens' future vision will be involved, including this year's 5th overall pick.
