Kent Hughes and the Canadiens have just lost an important pick
Kent Hughes likes to add small conditional clauses to his trades, and he did the same when it came time to trade Sean Monahan to the Jets.
Indeed, Winnipeg gave up a first-round pick in 2024 and a conditional third-round pick. This condition was if the Jets won the Stanley Cup.
However, Winnipeg was eliminated by the Avalanche on Tuesday night, in just 5 games. This means that Kent Hughes and the Canadiens automatically lose this pick.

Montreal #GoHabsGo will not receive the 2027 3rd round pick from the Sean Monahan trade." - CapFriendly
A small consolation is that the Jets' pick will be between the 22nd and 24th positions, whereas it was initially expected to be between 29th and 32nd.
Now it remains to be seen whether Kent Hughes will draft or trade this pick, but one thing is for sure, it will be more interesting in terms of a transaction.
