Kent Hughes confirms the rumor, and it's significant for the Canadiens
Kent Hughes is always as transparent as possible when asked questions, and recently we've learned that Chantal Machabée is behind it all.
Certainly, the GM can't reveal everything; he has to hold back to some extent, but generally, he's very honest.
He was once again this morning when he admitted that he's working on significant deals right now.
Habs GM Kent Hughes on if he has anything cooking trade-wise for day two of the #NHLDraft tomorrow: "yup - I wouldn't say close.... but yeah, we're not done trying"

It's worth noting that big names like Trevor Zegras, Martin Necas, Rutger McGroarty, Patrik Laine, and others have yet to be moved. There have been no announced trades at that level.
Also, remember that Hughes completed trades for forwards in the last two years, before or during the draft, acquiring Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook.
He's trying to pull off another move and working hard. We'll see in the coming hours if he manages to land an impact player.
