Kent Hughes has a golden opportunity to acquire a top-tier forward
Kent Hughes wants to acquire a young forward with potential and he isn't hiding it.
He has admitted this several times in recent weeks, and he is ready to sacrifice picks and/or defensemen.
While Trevor Zegras is a popular name, another very good player might be available in Carolina.
According to Elliotte Friedman, Martin Necas and Brett Pesce won't be able to reach an agreement with the Canes because they prefer Jake Guentzel and Seth Jarvis.
"Well, well! Friedman believes that Martin Necas and the Hurricanes will have difficulty agreeing on the terms of a contract extension and therefore, he should be traded."
- Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
This is a major statement and Kent Hughes will certainly be on the case.
What's even more interesting is that the Hurricanes don't need players who can help them immediately, so they could be looking for prospects and draft picks.
If they can afford to let Pesce go, they don't need immediate help on defense.
Could Cayden Primeau be included in a potential trade with the Canadiens? We'll see in the coming weeks.
What is certain is that the Canes' GM will receive many calls for the young Necas.
