Kent Hughes is eyeing a big forward, and it's a home run for the Habs
The next acquisition, or at least signing, for Kent Hughes should be a major one. Plus, it won't cost anything!
Indeed, young Oliver Kapanen is already property of the Canadiens in the NHL, and according to Nicolas Cloutier, he's on the verge of signing with the Habs.
"European sources I've been talking to behind the scenes expect Oliver Kapanen to sign his entry-level contract with the Habs this summer and be present at the next training camp.
Kapanen completed his military service last summer in Finland.
If he doesn't earn a spot with the Habs, he'll go play in Sweden with Timra."
- Nicolas Cloutier
We're talking about a forward who's perceived by many as the best player in Finland's top league. That's no small feat! In 13 playoff games over the past few days, he racked up 14 points.
A second-round pick in 2021, Kapanen represents a hidden gem up front for the Habs. He's shown impressive progress and has plenty of room to grow, considering he's only 20 years old.
