As the draft approaches, the names of Trevor Zegras and Martin Necas are circulating everywhere. Would Kent Hughes want to repeat a similar transaction to those of Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook? Here's what he responded:
"We will try. We will explore opportunities to improve our team, but only if it's about improving our team without compromising what we are trying to do here." - Kent Hughes
So basically, yes, but not at any cost. If we understand correctly, he wouldn't let go of big prospects to improve the club in the short term. Thus, players like David Reinbacher, Lane Hutson, and Logan Mailloux are unlikely to be involved in a transaction.
Kent Hughes is waiting for the right offer He doesn't want to part ways with young prospects for a veteran nearing the end of their career. It's not in the plans at the moment.
Recall that in the last two drafts, Kent Hughes acquired Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook. Will he repeat the feat?
"I think that's the case. If we can get a player, if we can move up in the draft order, we have to look at all means to improve this team. We won't be limited to something that must make us better next season. But if it does, that would be the icing on the cake." - Kent Hughes
The plan is still in place, but next season, Kent Hughes is aware that fans will want minimum results, at least to fight for a playoff spot.
An interesting interview granted to Pierre LeBrun. The offseason looks promising.
