Shane Wright to Montreal? It's starting to make noise
In 2022, many people linked Shane Wright to the Canadiens, but it was ultimately Juraj Slafkovsky who was selected first overall.
Two years later, it is clear that this was the right decision, but one can never be sure. Both are still very young, and Wright has not yet had a real chance in the NHL.
Kent Hughes is looking for a young, talented player to complete his top six. While he is currently pursuing Trevor Zegras and Martin Necas, the option of Shane Wright has recently emerged.
The rumor was started by insider David Pagnotta.
«Two years ago, many expected Shane Wright to become a member of the Canadiens. The Montreal team held the first overall pick in the draft, and Wright was at the top of many lists. [...]
David Pagnotta mentioned an interesting piece of information: there are NHL teams that would like to acquire Shane Wright in a trade, and even though the calls have not yet taken place, they intend to do so soon.»

Now it remains to be seen if the Canadiens are among the teams interested in Wright, but one thing is certain: Kent Hughes would not be doing his job if he did not inquire.
In 16 NHL games, the 2022 fourth overall pick has accumulated 7 points. He has not really had his chance with the Kraken and is knocking on the NHL's door.
