Kent Hughes shows the door to a young defenseman, and it's over with the Canadiens for Mattias Norlinder
Kent Hughes has important decisions to make to improve his team, and this also involves internal choices by selecting the right players.

The young Swede performed very well in the 2023 training camp, to the point where he stayed with the team for a while and was even recalled during the season, although he didn't play.
However, he was unable to elevate his game consistently, and his season with the Rocket was quite poor. Kent Hughes decided not to offer him a qualifying offer this summer.
It's unfortunate because Mattias Norlinder was compared to Erik Karlsson the year after he was drafted by the Canadiens. It was very encouraging for the organization.
Now, he has signed a two-season contract with MoDo in the SHL, thanks to a crowdfunding campaign. The public helped the organization cover his salary.
