Major: a decisive night for Slafkovsky, and it could pay off
Juraj Slafkovsky is having quite a second season, and he could finish it on an extremely rewarding note.
Indeed, the first overall pick in 2022 has a clause in his contract stating that if he scores 20 goals in a season, he will receive a substantial performance bonus.
He only needs one more goal to pocket a modest sum of $250,000. It may seem small, but for players on an entry-level contract earning less than $1 million per season, it's significant!
«If Juraj Slafkovsky scores his 20th goal of the season against the Red Wings on Tuesday night, he will receive a performance bonus of $250,000.»

The Slovakian already has 48 points this season, including 19 goals. Not only could he reach the 20-goal plateau in his second season, but he could also reach 50 points if he adds an assist.
It's already quite an accomplishment for him, even if he doesn't score tonight. He has a better points total than Jack Hughes in his second year, as well as Nathan MacKinnon, to name just those two.
The Canadiens seem to have made an excellent choice with the selection of Slafkovsky in 2022.
