Major and imminent announcement for Logan Mailloux? The Canadiens' defenseman could well play his first game in the NHL
The least we can say is that Sunday's game between the Canadiens and the Blues at the Bell Centre was very tough on the home team. They lost by a score of 7-2 and, more importantly, they lost two defensemen.
Indeed, Jordan Harris and Kaiden Guhle had to leave the game, and it's very concerning in both cases. Since the team plays on Tuesday, a recall is imminent.
Arber Xhekaj is the only available replacement on the blue line, bringing the count to five defensemen. Therefore, the Canadiens have no choice but to recall a defenseman in the next few hours to bring the count back to six.
Obviously, we are still waiting to find out if Guhle will be available for Tuesday, but his absence seems inevitable. If that is the case,
Justin Barron or Logan Mailloux could be recalled.
Barron has NHL experience but was sent to Laval to regain confidence and play significant minutes. Meanwhile, Mailloux is already in top form and producing a lot.
So, let's not forget him too quickly. He certainly deserves a recall.
