Major announcement from Chantal Machabée, and it's a game-changer
Since the new administration took over, a breath of fresh air has swept through the Canadiens. It felt like the players were stifled, which is no longer the case.
Indeed, under Marc Bergevin's tenure, players couldn't speak freely in front of the media, and former players couldn't approach them. In short, there were a lot of rules and restrictions.
But all of that is now in the past, as confirmed by Chantal Machabée herself. During her visit to La Poche Bleue, she confirmed that since she's been in her position, players can be themselves in front of the media.
"It's great to hear that the current regime of the Montreal Canadiens not only allows but encourages Habs players to be themselves in front of the media & fans." - HabsOnReddit
"Show your personality, that's how fans will connect with you." - Chantal Machabée to the Canadiens players via La Poche Bleue
In summary, players are now encouraged to demonstrate their personality and who they are, and it's doing them good.
