MAJOR: It's officially over for Kent Hughes, who loses his job as the general manager of the Laval Rocket
Shockwaves this morning within the Canadiens' circle as a significant signing was announced. Indeed, Assistant General Manager John Sedgwick has been extended for several years, which is good news.
This announcement brings about substantial changes on the second floor of the organization, especially for Kent Hughes. He essentially loses his position as the general manager of the Laval Rocket.
"In addition to retaining his duties with the Canadiens, Sedgwick will now assume the role of general manager for the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League." - Montreal Canadiens
Kent Hughes can now focus solely on the Canadiens without having to fill gaps in Laval. We know he had to be particularly active last summer, making several signings as players left the farm team.
We will see what impact this will have on both teams. I believe Hughes has done an excellent job in both roles over the past two years, so the fact that he can now concentrate solely on the Canadiens is a significant plus in my opinion.
