Major trade involving Joshua Roy: Kent Hughes reportedly had to pay a high price for Rutger McGroarty
Among the high-quality prospects in the Canadiens organization, Joshua Roy is definitely part of Kent Hughes' future plans.
The fifth-round pick has proven to everyone that he should have been selected in the first round. His hockey IQ is undeniable, with even Connor Bedard mentioning how fortunate he was to play alongside him for Team Canada junior.
He is one of the Canadiens' top prospects, but he would have had to be traded to acquire Rutger McGroarty. According to Marco D'Amico, it was either him or Michael Hage.
"A comparable return from Montreal would have been Joshua Roy or Michael Hage, which would have been more of a lateral move for the club.
But for Pittsburgh, it is a top prospect who will bring energy to their lineup."
- Marco D'Amico
The Canadiens would not have been a better team with Rutger McGroarty, considering the price Kent Hughes would have had to pay to acquire him.
