Martin St-Louis makes a significant statement about Arber Xhekaj
Martin St-Louis has often said that the progression of a young player is a process. While Juraj Slafkovsky's development has progressed strongly this year, Arber Xhekaj's is currently unlocking.
It's special to experience this. We have the privilege of witnessing the development of tomorrow's stars in the Canadiens, something we haven't had the chance to see often in recent decades.
For Martin St-Louis, the message remains the same, but he admits it's very encouraging.
"I've said it, evolution is never linear, but I find he's heading in the right direction... He's playing to his identity, working on the things we talk about, and he's finding consistency recently.
It's day by day, and it's about continuing in the direction he's going, but I'm happy with where he is today." - Martin St-Louis
It has always been important for him not to distort players, and although he hasn't always been easy on Arber, he is becoming a very good hockey player, using his strengths.
It's very encouraging for the future. Xhekaj is a policeman on the ice, but he also has remarkable assets as a hockey player that need to be utilized and developed.
