Patrik Laine for Josh Anderson of the Canadiens: it's accepted by TM
Since Patrik Laine's name was placed on the trade market, there have been numerous rumors about the possibility of seeing him in Montreal.
A proposal has just emerged, and it makes a lot of sense. Laine desires a trade from Columbus, and this sentiment is mutual. Without saying he is a problem, he certainly isn't as desired as when he was acquired.
For the Canadiens, a player who is no longer universally liked is Josh Anderson. The forward had a difficult season, and his future in Montreal is uncertain.
Martin St-Louis has always believed in him, but he is no longer untouchable. To think that Anderson had very high value a year ago, and even more two years ago.
Tony Marinaro and Eric Engels discussed this, and for them, this trade would be logical. Anderson would return to Columbus, where he was very appreciated, and Laine would get a fresh start.
"Host Tony Marinaro and Sportsnet journalist Eric Engels discussed the possibility of making a trade between the two players (Patrik Laine and Josh Anderson). Two 'problem' cases that would be beneficial for both teams. The proposal makes a lot of sense." - William Boivin, Info LNH
Of course, the Canadiens would probably have to add something, but not much. Laine earns over 3 million more, so the Canadiens would have to absorb this surplus on their salary cap for the next two seasons.
